Why We Use Pro-Form Mouthgard Laminates?
The ProForm mouthguard incorporates 3 layers of thermal plastics laminated together at extreme pressure. The layers are cross-woven under these extreme pressures to increase tensile strength and shock transmission. The laminate also incorporates a hardened piece of plastic (the palatal brace), which is placed behind the 4 centrals to work as a shock transmitter. Find diagrams showing the fabrication process.
Why Not Use Clear Or White Colours?
It may be easier to find a lost mouthguard on the playing field if it is coloured plastic, rather than clear.
How To Clean It ?
Since the mouthguard contains bacteria and plaque, it is important to clean your mouthguard after each use. Clean it with a toothbrush and toothpaste or clean it in cool soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
How To Store It?
Store and transport the mouthguard in a firm perforated container to prevent damage and permit air circulation. Do not close the mouthguard container until the freshly washed mouthguard its dry. Avoid high temperature and direct sunlight to minimize distortion
Can It Wear Down?
Due to pressure from the teeth, and alternate wetting and drying that occur between uses and during cleaning, mouthguards wear over time. The material deteriorates and looses resilience, reducing effectiveness.
Replacement?
The custom fitted mouthguard will have to be replaced as the person's dentition changes and the jaw grows. The rate of growth depends on each individual person. If the mouthguard has holes or tears or is loose or irritates the teeth or gums, it will need replacing.
